For beach time, Pope Beach is a favourite thanks to its tall pines that provide natural shade throughout the day. Parents appreciate the wide sandy shoreline and calm water. Outdoor adventures await along the Taylor Creek Rainbow Trail, a stroller-friendly half-mile loop, and also ideal for young hikers. Another stroller-friendly option is the scenic Lam Watah Trail, perfect for families looking to experience the outdoors with kids.
Indoor fun at Tahoe Tot Spot’s safe play environment allows young kids to burn off their energies. Parents can also head to the Slime Kitchen where kids can utilise their imagination and create their own custom slime using fragrances, glitters, etc.
For dining, Lake Tahoe AleWorX at the Y emerges as a top choice with its live patio and spacious outdoor seating, while Elements Eatery & Bar offers lakeside views.

Young Kids (Ages 5–12)
Lake Tahoe is a vibrant playground for kids of elementary school age.
Start with Zephyr Cove Beach, where the shallow water and rock formations encourage exploration. Parents can relax while kids can experience adventure and climbing around the shoreline.
Taylor Creek Stream Profile Chamber, often called the “fish window” is popular among this age group, where visitors walk underground to a viewing window to spot fish swimming through the creek.
Families can book horseback riding at Camp Richardson and have their kids experience the forest. Another classic option is Magic Carpet Mini Golf, a colourful, retro course that is serious fun for the whole family. With two different courses to choose from, you could even hit this one twice.

For meals, FiRE + iCE Grill & Bar is a hit with kids thanks to its interactive cooking experience, where diners build their own stir-fry creations. Catch the Magic Fusion show at The Loft, a G-rated magic and comedy performance that’s entertaining for both kids and adults.
Teens (Ages 13–15+)
Teens often look for something that feels adventurous, catering to their niche interests, and Lake Tahoe does not fail to deliver.
Teens will love Epic Discovery at Heavenly Mountain Resort, complete with the Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster and zip lines for the views and thrilling rides.

Teens can experience the waters on a clear-bottom kayak or even partake in the evening “night glow” LED tours after sunset.
Social hangouts around Lake Tahoe such as The Hangar offering games and food or the Heavenly Village with shopping and arcades, as well as Retroactive Arcade featuring classic games are all teen-approved spots.
Dining at Tipsy Putt also blends interactive entertainment and indoor mini-golf. Also, do not miss visiting Yosemite Axe-Throwing and test your axe-hucking ability.
