Summer is an excellent time to explore the wide-open spaces, gardens, and fountains in Philadelphia's countryside.
The countryside of Philadelphia is taking on a new summer sky with helicopters, aeroplanes and drones in the backdrop of spectacular fountains and fireworks that adorn the warm evenings with an atmosphere of celebration.
Longwood Gardens' Festival of Fountains
Longwood Gardens' Main Fountain Garden welcomes the spectacular season with a summer-long Festival of Fountains, which started on May 8 and will continue till September 27, 2026. Fountains dance and soar up to 175 feet, and Illuminated Fountain Performances take centre stage on Thursday through Saturday evenings.
Longwood Gardens' Fireworks & Fountains
From June through September, the skies over the Countryside of Philadelphia will light up with incredible fireworks! Celebrate summer with spectacular shows throughout the region as part of America 250. Expect unforgettable displays honouring the 250th birthday of the nation. Special Fireworks & Fountains shows are scheduled on July 2, July 18, August 8, August 22, September 6 and September 26, bringing a dazzling spectacle, complete with music, to the skies of the Countryside of Philadelphia.
Drone Shows at Longwood Gardens
Enjoy a luminous experience at Longwood Gardens' all-new drone shows on August 26 and 27, 2026. Gather on the Orchard Lawn for a 45-minute live performance of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons as choreographed drones soar through the open sky, creating glowing, artistic patterns of light.
Festival of Flight Air, Car and Tractor Show
Take the whole family to New Garden Airport's Festival of Flight Air, Car and Tractor Show on August 8 and 9, 2026. Look to the sky for stunt demonstrations, while back on earth, enjoy antique car and aircraft displays, food and craft vendors, and a warm community feel.
