One of India’s leading dermatologists, Dr. Chiranjiv Chhabra approaches aesthetic medicine with scientific precision and an open mindset. She has spent more than 25 years building a practice that transcends conventional dermatology with Alive Wellness Clinics. What began as a single clinic has grown into a network of wellness centres across India, grounded in her practice of looking beyond surface results toward long-term, sustainable skin wellness.
Her experience makes her measured and warm, an expert who speaks with clarity and relatability. There is thoughtful deliberation in how she articulates her philosophy by balancing technical expertise with a genuine commitment to her patients’ lived experience.
How would you describe your journey so far and how has it shaped the leader you are today?
Looking back, I started as a girl with big dreams, wanting to add value to people's lives. My journey wasn't easy. There were setbacks and doubts, but each challenge taught me something and pushed me to aim higher. These experiences shaped me into a leader. Today, I’m someone who sees mistakes not as failure, but as stepping stones and lessons, and uses them to grow further.
Every person faces moments of doubt. What has been the biggest challenge in your journey?
When I started my practice, the aesthetic industry was still growing. It was very nascent, and people had many myths, fears, and a lack of awareness about it. People did not believe that it was scientific and that they could achieve tangible results through medicine in the field of beauty. I pushed through these challenges by educating them and being completely transparent about procedures, risks, and benefits. Over time, I also had to educate myself further. I had to travel all over the world and take fellowships and apprenticeships under masters who had worked in this field for years.
Was there a pivotal turning point in your career—a decision or a moment that truly changed your trajectory?
Yes, it was when I decided to expand my practice. That decision changed my journey as an entrepreneur. I moved from simply running a clinic to building a structured, scalable practice. It strengthened trust, increased patient flow, and helped me think bigger, not just as a doctor, but as a leader building an institution.
What is your success mantra?
Stay updated, stay relevant. In the medical and aesthetic field, learning never stops. Science keeps evolving and new technologies keep coming, so we have to keep upgrading ourselves. For me, success means being science-led, investing in advanced technology, continuously learning and educating myself, and always giving patients care that meets global standards.
What is the moment in your journey that makes you pause and feel truly proud?
One moment that makes me truly proud is when a difficult case turns into a beautiful transformation. When a patient walks in unsure and walks out feeling confident and youthful, that change in self-belief is deeply fulfilling. I'm also equally proud of my team, who work tirelessly with dedication, and watching them grow into strong leaders makes the journey even more meaningful.
What advice would you give to women who are building their careers?
My advice to women building their careers is to take calculated risks. Don't be afraid to step into new territories or make bold decisions. Often, those moments of courage lead to the biggest breakthroughs and growth in both your professional and personal journey.
How are you consciously giving back to the next generation — especially young women — through mentorship, leadership, or the ecosystem you’re building?
As a doctor, I'm a firm believer that acts of service to the community is what you give back to the community. Through mentorship, I guide young doctors and aspiring women in the aesthetic and medical field. I help them navigate their challenges, build their confidence, and guide them to make the right decisions. I want the next generation, especially young women, to see that with knowledge and consistency, they can achieve their dreams while making a meaningful impact.
What excites you most about the future, personally & professionally?
What excites me most about the future professionally, is the vision of elevating aesthetic medicine to the highest global standards and expanding Alive Wellness Clinics into a pan-India organization, and globally recognized chain of clinics. Personally, I believe that ageing is not something to reverse, but something to redefine. My vision is to change the way people see ageing. I believe the future is in science-led treatments that are safe, proven, and transparent. I'm excited to be a part of this change, helping build a future where innovation and science-led treatments will be the core of everything, including how patients are handled.
