Women Who Lead: Leading with Clarity & Conviction

As a part of our Women Who Lead series, we get in conversation with Gurnoor Bindra, General Manager at Raffles Udaipur, as she continues to champion a leadership led by clarity, authenticity, and purpose.

With over 16 years of experience spanning Asia and the Middle East, Gurnoor Bindra represents a new generation of hospitality leadership—one that is as empathetic as it is exacting. At the helm of Raffles Udaipur, she brings a people-first philosophy to the forefront, where service excellence is not just delivered but deeply felt.

Her journey has been shaped by cultural exposure and operational depth and having led transformation-driven initiatives throughout her career, she firmly believes  in creating environments where teams feel empowered and guests leave with a lasting emotional connection.

In a conversation with PEAKLIFE, she talks to us about her journey, her vision for the hotel, and what it takes to be a woman leader in the hospitality industry.

1. How would you describe your journey so far, and how has it shaped the leader you are today?

My journey in hospitality has been deeply rewarding and incredibly formative. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across diverse roles and environments, each of which has shaped my understanding of people, culture, and service excellence. Hospitality is ultimately about creating meaningful experiences, and that philosophy has guided my career.

What has shaped me most as a leader is the realisation that empathy and resilience are just as important as operational expertise. Leading a luxury property is not just about maintaining standards – it's about inspiring a team, nurturing talent, and building a culture where everyone feels proud of the experiences they create for guests. Every challenge and every success along the way has reinforced my belief that authentic leadership is rooted in humility, collaboration, and purpose.

2. What has been the biggest challenge in your journey, and how did you push through it?

One of the biggest challenges has been navigating the balance between high performance and personal growth while constantly evolving in leadership roles.

What helped me push through those moments was perspective. Hospitality teaches you to stay calm, adapt quickly, and focus on solutions rather than setbacks. I’ve also been fortunate to work with mentors and teams who believed in collective success. Those experiences reminded me that leadership is not about having all the answers—it’s about learning continuously and supporting the people around you.

3. As a General Manager, what is your vision for the property you lead, and how do you ensure your team aligns with that vision?

My vision is to create a property that is not just a destination but an experience guests remember long after they leave. And ensuring that every guest interaction reflects warmth, elegance, and a sense of place.

Alignment begins with communication and culture. I believe in involving the team in the vision rather than simply presenting it to them. When people feel connected to a shared purpose, they naturally take ownership of it. At the end of the day, our success lies in the pride and passion our team brings to the guest experience.

4. What is one moment in your journey, professional or personal, that makes you feel proud?

One of the moments that makes me most proud is seeing team members grow into leaders themselves. Watching someone you’ve mentored to gain confidence, step into greater responsibility, and succeed is incredibly fulfilling.

Hospitality is a people-driven industry, and the true impact of leadership often lies in how you help others evolve. Seeing that ripple effect within a team is something I value deeply.

5. How are you consciously giving back to the next generation — especially young women — through mentorship, leadership, or the ecosystem you’re building?

I believe mentorship plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the hospitality industry. I try to create an environment where young professionals—especially women—feel supported, heard, and empowered to pursue leadership roles. That means encouraging open conversations, sharing experiences honestly, and helping them recognise their own potential. Representation matters, and when young women see more female leaders in hospitality, it naturally broadens what they believe is possible for themselves.

6. What advice would you give to young women who are building their careers in the hospitality industry?

My advice would be to stay curious, stay resilient, and never underestimate the power of authenticity. Hospitality can be demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding if you truly enjoy working with people and creating memorable experiences.

Don’t hesitate to step outside your comfort zone, ask questions, and take on challenges that help you grow. Confidence builds over time, and every experience—good or difficult—becomes part of the foundation that shapes your leadership journey.

7. What excites you most about the future, personally & professionally?

What excites me most is the evolution of hospitality itself. Guests today are seeking deeper, more meaningful experiences, and that creates incredible opportunities for innovation and creativity within the industry.

Personally, I’m excited about continuing to grow as a leader while contributing to the development of future talent. Seeing the next generation bring fresh perspectives and energy to hospitality is something that truly inspires me.

8. What is your success mantra?

For me, success comes down to three simple principles: authenticity, consistency, and kindness. When you lead with integrity and remain committed to excellence while uplifting the people around you, success tends to follow naturally.
