Whether you’re here for race weekend or a slow escape, the emirate balances mangroves, museums, and marble-clad mosques with opulent indulgence.
In 2021, the championship battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen stretched to the very end of the season and was decided only in a contentious finale at Abu Dhabi. Now, four years later, the three-way championship scuffle between Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen looks all set to drag out till the very end once again. As motorheads plan a trip to the Yas Marina Circuit for an exciting season ender, the capital emirate returns to the limelight once again.
However, the race weekend is not the only spectacle waiting for visitors in Abu Dhabi. Often overshadowed by its busy, touristy neighbour, Dubai, the former deserves a trip in its own right. With history umbrellaed under white marble domes and contrasted by skyscrapers and the artistic dome of the Louvre, the city blends heritage with passion amidst contemporary elegance.

The Rub'al Khali desert offers a golden contrast to your wetland adventure. Sand dunes towering over 300 meters provide a glimpse into the country’s Bedouin history, complemented by exciting desert safaris.
Nothing, however, can exhibit Abu Dhabi’s opulent heritage quite like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque with its 82 domes, reflective pools, and marble-clad courtyards. Another piece of ethnicity is tucked away in Al Ain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 90 minutes outside of Abu Dhabi. Its historic forts, lush oases, souks and traditional camel markets are a window into tradition.
