Women Who Lead: Pratiti Rajpal is Leading with Intent

As part of our Women Who Lead series, we get into a conversation with Pratiti Rajpal. General Manager, Ronil Goa – JdV by Hyatt

“Leadership is all about being present, adaptable, and creating space for others to thrive.” It’s a thought Pratiti Rajpal returns to often and one that has clearly shaped her journey. With 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry and 14 years within the Hyatt ecosystem, Rajpal has moved across roles, cities, and disciplines before stepping into her current role as General Manager at Ronil Goa – JdV by Hyatt—the brand’s first outpost in India. Her journey as she tells us has been defined by constant learning, unlearning, and an unwavering people-first approach.

Through an email interaction with PEAKLIFE, she talks about challenging expectations, trusting her own voice, and why leadership, today, is as much about listening as it is about leading.

1. How would you describe your journey so far and how it has shaped the leader you are today?

My path to becoming a General Manager has been a journey of continuous learning, unlearning, and courageously stepping beyond my comfort zone. I’ve been privileged to work with iconic Hyatt hotels such as Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa, Andaz Delhi, Grand Hyatt Mumbai, and others—experiences that helped me understand the true soul of a hotel: its people. Each role challenged me to view the business through a different lens, shaping my growth and broadening my perspective.

What truly anchored my development were the mentors who inspired me to lead with empathy rather than authority. Over time, I’ve come to believe that leadership in hospitality isn’t about perfection but about being present, adaptable, and fostering an environment where teams feel confident to thrive. Throughout my journey, my purpose has remained constant—to create a space where both guests and colleagues genuinely feel at home.

2. What has been the biggest challenge in your journey, and how did you push through it?

One of the most significant challenges I’ve encountered has been navigating preconceived notions—particularly around how a woman is expected to lead or what her strengths should look like. Early in my career, I often felt compelled to overprove myself, to be louder, tougher, or more assertive than what felt natural. With time, I realised that my core strengths—empathy, composure, clarity, and a people-first mindset—were not shortcomings, but true differentiators.

What helped me through these moments was resilience, the guidance of mentors who believed in me, and a constant reminder that leadership is not defined by gender—it is defined by impact, intention, and how you make people feel.

3. As a General Manager, what is your vision for the property you lead, and how do you ensure your team aligns with that vision?

For me, Ronil Goa – JdV by Hyatt is far more than a lifestyle resort; it has a rhythm and soul of its own. My vision is to nurture that energy and shape Ronil Goa into a place where guests immediately feel a sense of belonging, effortlessness, joy, and delightful unexpectedness. I want the resort to be a true expression of Goa’s spirit: warm, vibrant, a little whimsical, and filled with moments that feel spontaneous yet just right. From the music and design to the people and the thoughtful surprises throughout the stay, my aim is for Ronil Goa to uplift guests the moment they step in. Authenticity is what matters most to me. I want guests to leave feeling lighter, happier, and genuinely connected—not just to the destination, but to the emotion Ronil Goa evokes. That connection comes to life when the team brings their individuality, joy, and personality into everything they do.

4. What is one moment in your journey, professional or personal, that makes you feel proud?

Watching my colleagues gain confidence, step into leadership roles, or believe in themselves has made me proud more than any other milestones. Knowing that I’ve helped create environments where people feel safe to be themselves and do their best work is incredibly fulfilling. Those moments reaffirm why I chose hospitality and remind me that impact is often quiet but meaningful.

5. How are you consciously giving back to the next generation — especially young women — through mentorship, leadership, or the ecosystem you’re building?

By leading with intention and embedding inclusion into everyday actions. I make it a priority to create spaces where every voice is encouraged without judgement, helping foster trust and psychological safety. Through mentorship, visibility, and exposure to opportunities, I aim to support young talent in building confidence, clarity, and a sense of belonging. I believe that when people feel supported and seen, they are more willing to step forward, take risks, and grow into their potential.

Inclusion, to me, is not a one-time initiative but a consistent mindset that shapes the ecosystem we build together. By nurturing an environment where individuals can be their most authentic selves, I hope to empower the next generation of leaders to thrive—fully aligned to Hyatt’s purpose – we care for people so they can be their best.

6. What advice would you give to young women who are building their careers in the hospitality industry?

Trust yourself and stay true to who you are. You don’t need to change your personality to succeed — your authenticity is your strength. Be curious, stay open to learning, and don’t be afraid to ask questions or take chances. There will be moments of doubt and setbacks, but don’t let them define you. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, seek mentors, and, most importantly, be patient with your journey.

7. What excites you most about the future, personally & professionally?

What excites me most is the opportunity to continue evolving — professionally and personally — while staying anchored to my purpose. I’m deeply motivated by the ability to shape spaces that feel human, inclusive, and emotionally engaging, where both guests and teams feel genuinely connected. At the same time, I value constant learning, gaining new perspectives, and growing with balance and intention. The future feels dynamic and full of possibility, and it’s that sense of curiosity and forward momentum that continues to inspire me every day.

8. What is your success mantra?

Lead with purpose. Stay authentic. Build trust. Success, for me, is measured not just by outcomes but by the culture you create and the impact you leave behind.
